When the fire goes out

Hola Everyone

Today (Sunday, election day here) very early in the morning I was
pouring four flask and for some reason the gauge on the oxygen tank
read more that enough for my porpuse and during the second pour I
start noticing that the oxygen begun to lost power I check again the
gauge and read 1/4 charge more that I need for the job, but noneless
the fire of my torch just gone out only half of that flask was filled
(silver alloy was cold) my question is Can I re heat the other two
flasks another day and continue the pouring?

Thank you in advance.
Gustavo

Hello Gustavo, There is no reason not to reheat the flasks, just be
gentle with them as there is no wax inside to support the rather
delicate plaster.

Have fun.

Hi Gustavo;

No problem, just bring them up to casting temperature, maybe about 1
hour ramp up, then hold for maybe 10 minutes before casting. Be
careful with them, they’re dry now and more fragile.

As long as they are kept away from moisure they can be reheated
without too much worry. It is best to keep them in a warm oven-above
60 deg c and you can them ramp up the temp nice and quick to casting
temp.
