During the past 2 weeks I knew of two great people in our
illustrious trade pass away. But where are their stories of what they
accomplished? All I heard were a few kind words of what both have
done. All I will see are a few words on their small tombstones…(the
usual stuff)…"Here lies — ---, born 19–, died
August–/2014.(nuttin’ else. a real darn pity!) I intend no one
should ‘just drop me into the ground & not know of what I’ve done’.
My ongoing videos’ will be my ever lasting obituary, I’m even
thinking of putting a few of them into YouTube. I want Orchid to see
& keep the best of them, text & films.
My Mother wrote many articles & her life story. Her words are with
’us’, even for my g-kids to read years from now. Our lives are full of
our dreams & thoughts. I suggest these should be written & let others
see what made us so special.
I suggest write or video on what you do, this will last long after
you’re gone. “Orchid is our tool” to show our skills to the next
generation of gifted jewellers. Let them see how we did our
fabrication, they might learn something new!..Gerry Lewy
