Well, thanks to the thread “What tools do you want for Christmas”,
and my wonderful family, I got some really great things for
Christmas.
A Foredom flexshaft (yeah!), several shaped mandrels, a disk cutting
set and brass hammer (which gave me the silliest grin on my face the
whole first day I used it!), a subscription to Lapidary Journal, and
a little cash (from Mom & Dad). My 12 year old son gave me a
stocking full of wet and dry sandpaper!
Not only did I have a great Christmas finding the perfect gifts for
my family, I got a few things they never would have thought of
giving me if it hadn’t been for that thread. It was also fun
watching them shake their heads and laugh at me because I was so
happy to get tools for Christmas!

Glad you had a nice Christmas and got the tools you wanted. I got a
dapping set (woohoo, been waiting for that), new needle files, wax
carving spatulas, and a 4" bench sander (it’s so cute! and it’s red).
My pound of stainless steel shot hasn’t arrived in the mail yet,
hubby
ordered it late. It was funny looking at our gifts after they were
opened. Not too many ladies would want tools for christmas, but I’m
sure glad I do! Thanks Santa.
WOW!! All that great stuff!! I get the same thing every year. Socks

the tools to “make something” with can still make “all” of us happy

I tried to resist posting, but I’m giving in. I got a rolling mill,
an F/X wheel, and some stones, exactly what I wanted most-- because I
bought them for myself. This year, the kids (four, ages 18-27)
decided it was better to just hang out together as a family and not
do the whole gift thing. This was great, and saved us all a lot of
money and hassle. I still got them and my husband small but
thoughtful gifts (my husband and I were both born at Christmas, so I
got him a birthday present as well).
I didn’t really expect that my husband would take their decision to
mean he shouldn’t get me anything! He’s not the greatest gift-chooser
anyway, and never really understands what I want, so that’s why I
just got my own. Probably the best way to do it, in a sense, but not
really satisfactory for all that. Sigh.
I got a banjo!! “What’s that got to do with jewelry?” I hung it on
the wall near my bench and when I get a minute it helps me relax…
