Holy cow, guys! As a trauma nurse, I’m reminded of farm related injuries (farm injuries are actually a subset of trauma medicine…). Folks getting entangled in a tractor’s power take off or an auger. I also had a grandmother who fed her arm into the wringer part of her old wringer washer! Please, I beseech you to be ultra aware of anything that rotates at a fast rate of speed. Scalps, fingers, appendages, what ever. The more comfortable you become with your machines, the more at risk you become. Treat these devices as potential weapons and act accordingly.

How do you use the bat to polish chain on the polishing wheel? How is it held there safely?

I hold the section of bat that I cut, in my hands, put the chain around it, and anchor it with one of my hands. The thick leather I wrapped the bat IN, cushions the piece while I am working on it. My technique eliminates any risk of chains being grabbed by the polishing buff, and cutting me - or taking off one of my fingers!
