Welcome nicholas towle

hi nicholas,

i’ve been here just a couple of weeks. this is a very
informative forum! i do have a question for you. what 900 or 950
alloys of platinum age harden the best? what temps and what
length of time? any special treatments? where is a good place to
find out more than you’re willing to type? i’ve made a simple
tension mounting by work hardening an iridium / platinum alloy,
but age hardening would allow one to save a some filing and
platinum in this application. thanks! geo fox

Hi George,

There is a gentleman who pops up on this list from time to time,
who is associated with a platinum consortium (?) based in CA.
Since I haven’t yet had the need to work with platinum, his name
slips my mind, but someone else out there might remember him. He
seemed like a capable and willing resource for any platinum
related questions.
