Hi

I come from Tonbridge in UK,i am a mum of 3 young children. Which all
in all makes life very busy.

Along with my interest in gold/silver coins and precious metals i
have been planning to take a diamond grading diploma with either GIA
or Gem-A when i can manage to sortout the baby/child sitter. I have
also just started taking silver/gold smithing lessons with a local
jeweller i have known for a while, just to increase my learning
across the board, and i am looking forward to taking on more
from the very good videos that appear on this site.

I am always happy to recieve advise or that anyone
wishes to give me.

Well here i go.
Rgds Karen.

I am a jewelry hobbyist who has been working in workshops for
approx. 5 years. I live in Boca Raton, Florida and enjoy fabricating
silver primarily, but also brass and copper metals. I consulted Jinx
McGrath’s “The Encyclopedia of Jewelry-Making Techniques” to achieve
a green patina on brass. His formula consisted of 4 parts ammonia, 1
part vinegar on a bed of rolled tobacco. I followed the recipe
exactly and let it sit for 24 hrs. as instructed, but nothing
happened. Can any one help me? Perhaps a different solution? Thanks,
Faye

Hello, I have been making jewelry almost all of my life. It started
in nursery school with the great projects, and has advanced to me
starting my own business. I love creating art, and being around
artsy, creative people. Currently, I string beads, and do wire work.
Also, I am taking a class in metal working that I simply love!! I
have sold my jewelry at small venues, and done relatively well. I am
creating my online website as we speak, and am deciding if I want to
sell on Etsy or Artfire, as well. I gotten a lot of compliments on
my workmanship, and have been offered teaching postitions to adults
and children. I hope to continue along this path, learn more
processes, and current methods of creating my little peices of art.
Also, I am in the process of remodeling a house, and plan to make
the basement my very own “studio”. So, I am researching what are the
must haves, what will make my space successful, and what will be
easy and the most affordable to set up. As always, any positive
feedback is always welcome!! :o)
