Chris Nelson
Pagosa Springs, Colorado. USA

I retired from my primary career in 2000 while living in the
Caribbean and moved back to the US to study metalsmithing in 2001. I
have become an accomplished goldsmith/jewelry artist and primarily
fuse, forge, and fabricate using hi-karat gold and some silver. Much
of my work incorporates raw diam onds and opal.

I have been fortunate enough to study with several masters including
Marne Ryan, Jean Stark, Tim McCreight, Doug Zaruba, Kent Raible,
Harold O’Connor, Alan Revere, Steve Midgett, Marilyn Nicholson,
Naohiro Yamada. Would also like to express gratitude to the staff at
Revere Academy for their amazing Masters Symposiums.

I utilize primarily recycled fine gold and silver and alloy my own
metals according to the properties or colors desired. Also, most of
the metals I use are milled in my studio. I enjoy the process, and
not just the final creations.

I began to participate in juried fine art festivals in the 2008
season, and have shown in Downtown Denver, Breckenridge, Dillon,
Jackson Hole, and Salida. Emerging Artist at Art Fair Jackson Hole in
August, 2008, Featured Artist in Dillon, CO in 2009, and First Place
Award for all 3D Art in Salida, CO in August, 2009. I would like to
thank Judy Hoch for her expertise, advise and critique in the process
of setting up a very professional booth and display. Also would like
to thank Anne Reichel for showing me how to arrange my art in my
