Hi! I’m a late starter in respect to making jewelry. It was born out
of years of experience as a printmaker. I have been a member of
several guilds including the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen
(originally from that state, now living in Tennessee), Southern
Highlands Craft Guild, Foothills Craft Guild, Tennessee Association
of Craft Artists, etc. My current emphasis is on learning and
mastering enameling techniques. Engraving is another interest. You
can read more at my web site: www.whittlestudio.net

In partnership with Janet Cullen, I have been designing jewelry and
holloware since 1972. I studied at Indiana University with Alma
Eikerman in the 1970s, GIA design and gemsetting courses and at
Penland School. Janet studied with a former student of Prof Eikerman
and later received her Grad. Gemologist Diploma from GIA. We have
operated a fulltime metals studio since 1974. Primarily I work in
forging, fabrication and lostwax casting and our work has always
reflected our love of My undergraduate degree is in
chemistry and geology which influence my work. I took a course in
foldforming in the 1990s and a certification class with Tim
McCreight in PMC which changed my approach to metals design.
Recently I studied enamelling with Mary Chuduk. For a long time I
have neglected vessels and containers and hope to return to larger
pieces of formed metal to discover new spaces and coloration
processes.
