Hi, thanks for the community. I started making jewelry a 2 years
ago. I have taken a couple of day long workshops but am mostly self
taught, if finding resources on the internet is considered self
teaching. I have a BA in Ceramics, and taught drawing and painting
in a local high school for ten y ears. I am looking forward to
learning more. I work with mainly with copper.

I have been teaching a 10 week jewelry making class at the
Appalachian Rock Shop for 18 years. Many of my students have been
with me for several years. I teach 3 classes a week and have from
25-28 students total. In the 10 week class I teach soldering, bezel
making and stone setting. We also do fusi ng and reticulation. I also
teach 1 day workshops, etching, hammered metal, beading and many
other basic techniques. The studio is in the same building as the
Appalachian Rock Shop and Jewelry Emporium where I also work as
manager. The Rock Shop is 35 miles north of Pittsburgh PA. We have a
large inv entory of rocks, minerals, fossils, many are museum
quality. We sell cabs and metal working tools, wire, sheet and
beads.
