Hello,
I have been making jewelry since 1971, when I happened to sign-up
for an instructional jewelery fabrication class while attending the
University of Massachusetts. My best friend in High School and
College was a wholesale jeweler who worked in his family’s business
during any off time in Springfield. His Dad had been in business
there for 50+ years.
I have always been fascinated by metalworking of all sorts. I paid
for my College Degree by working in a metal machine shop as a turret
lathe operator. This gave me a unique understanding of many types of
metals and their separate machining properties.
I am no pro, but I know my way around silver and gold crafting
pretty well. It is way more than a hobby to me; but I have never
relied on making/selling jewelry for my livelihood.
My personal fascination is primarily with faceted gemstone rings and
smaller pieces.
Thanks,
Gerry
