Hello Everyone,
My name is Anna Maria Bortolotto and I live in Calgary, Alberta,
Canada. Formerly a hobbyist, I am currently setting up my studio and
learning all I can about being an independent jewellery artist and
starting my own business. Fortunately for me, living in Calgary
allows me to take advantage of the Extended Studies courses at ACAD
where the instructors are world class and brimming with knowledge and
the willingness to share. I suffer from an extreme case of tool
acquisition syndrome and have been rapidly expanding my knowledge and
techniques with each new treasure. Thus far I have worked in beading,
metal clay (Level III Certified), and copper/brass/silver art objects
and jewellery. My short term goals are to set up my business,
complete the designs and fabrication of several collections of
one-of-a-kind and limitted edition pieces, build a website, enter
shows, and generally, finall y, and completely embrace the career I
was meant to have. There must be many others out there who have felt,
and still do feel, the same as I do, and I look forward to meeting
you all.

I am a retired chemist, where I had worked 33 years as a quality
control chemist for a major pharmaceutical company. Now in
retirement, I am using my chemical background not for drugs, but for
stones. My wife is the artist that creates jewelry, after years doing
many different artsy things, like watercolor painting, flower
arrangments, interier decorating, and wedding planning. Now I help by
cutting and polishing different stones, taking great interest in
opals.
