I’m a beginning metalsmith, who has been working in wire for about 2
years. I’m also a fine artist. I am starting this new path later in
life, and looking forward to every step of the journey.

Good Day Everyone. I am a retired oil&gas executive who has had the
opportunity during my career to cultivate numerous hobbies such as a
piper in a band, stringed instrument making, furniture making,
wildfowl carving, stained glass, various sports and martial arts,
and silversmithing. I’ve been working in the silver field for about
1 year now, and found your site about 3 months ago. I’m really
impressed, and humbled by the expertise on this group. I only hope
that, over time, I can contribute something that will help others.
You’ve already helped me in some projects a great deal.

Hi Everyone,
I am a relative beginner at metal smithing. I took a class with
Michael Sturlin last August, which is where I found out about this
list. Prior to that I had taken a couple of metal smithing classes
and done some very basic things (sawing, hammering, riveting,
soldering,) but only a little bit. I’ve also taken several PMC
classes, a couple of beading and wire classes, and a polymer clay
class. I enjoy combining everything I have learned in making jewelry
- which I hope to sell someday soon.
Right now I’m trying to figure out how to set up my first studio and
benching area. I have lots of questions.
I look forward to getting to know everyone here!
Happy New Year,
