Graeme Samuel
Belgrave, Victoria. Australia
I am a jeweller from Melbourne, Australia with 37 years experience
in the trade. After all these years I am still passionate about
manufacturing and still find the daily problems, and the solving of
them, enthralling. In the past few years I have been working with
platinum fairly extensively and more recently learning the use of
laser welding equipment. I know I still have a great deal to learn
about the efficient use of the laser welder and feel that it is one
of the greatest innovations in jewellery manufacture that I have
experienced in my career. I am happy to assist anyone with the
knowledge I have gained over the years. I have an interest and
knowledge of a wide variety of materials (platinum, titanium, mokume
gane) and gems (particularly diamonds, sapphires and opal). Although
I have a good knowledge of casting and more recently, cad cam
designing, I must say I have a dislike of both. Give me a well
sketched design and a quality hand wrought piece of jewellery
anytime.

Gems of the Hill Country
Mason, TX. USA
Hey, y’all, from the Hill Country of Texas. I facet the Texas state
gem, topaz, which is found in Mason County, where my jewelry store
is located. I’ve been a fine jeweler for 26 years, and a Graduate
Gemologist for 11 years. As president of Texas Faceters’ Guild, I
will let y’all know about events that may encourage another insane
jeweler to take up faceting. I look forward to guidance as I learn
the bench. Nothing like going in backwards order, huh? Diane Eames
