I have been making jewellery on a small scale for about ten years -
mostly wire work with precious and semi-precious stones. I also do a
little casting in gold and silver.

Although I started to design and make metal jewelry at the age of 15,
I became an architect, and only started making jewelry again in the
last 12 years. About 7 years ago, I started working with flame-worked
glass, and am now relearning my metal smithing skills so I can marry
metal with my glass work into finished jewelry pieces. Since
architectural work is basically the process of problem solving how
different building crafts must be staged and combined to create a
finished building, I find learning new processes and thinking through
the construction of a new piece exciting, with the benefit that most
jewelry pieces no not take about 2 years to design and construct.
