Very important new JVC findings

Daniel, I agree that unless the stones were purchased here in the
U.S, my assumption that they were safe would be incorrect. However,
fortunately, I purchase all my stones from reputable sources here in
the United States I have never gotten any from overseas. Reo is one
of my sources, and they have assured us that their stones are safe.

While apparently Rio is a safe bet, you don’t know where your other
sources got their material from. It doesn’t matter that your source
was in the US. What does matter is where THEY sourced the material
from. If they got it from outside of the country it’s illegal for you
to sell it. You’re not protected because you didn’t buy directly from
outside the country. The same thing applies to treatment disclosure,
by the way. If you purchase from a reputable local source who doesn’t
disclose, or discloses wrongly, you’re still responsible for whatever
you are selling.

I am sorry if this is going to sound like a broken record but I have
totally missed the conversation about the Topaz. This is one of my
biggest sellers, now I am concerned. Who is JVC? I am in Canada and
as far as I know there has been no ban on any gems here. Does anyone
know what effects these stones may have on a person, how about one
with heart items (pacemakers, fibriliators?) I probably have right
now about 50 rings with topazes in them. I do not want any harm to
come to my clients nor to myself in handling them. Could some one
please fill me in on what is going on? Thanks, and no I am no blonde
just behind in messages.

Leslie

I think most people are missing an important point…

If the news entertainment industry (because there are few real
reporting services anymore in North America, Just my opinion) gets a
hold of this and whip up a frenzy about the radioactive blue topazes
they won’t be worth much more than colored glass if they are in the
display cases. It won’t matter weather they are from Rio and thus
legal or not. It won’t matter if they were irradiated in a reactor or
a linear accelerator. Once the media gets trough with it they will be
all in the same lump “Dangerously radioactive”

A prudent business person might look towards selling down their stock
to protect their investment…

The issue on irradiated stones is only for US companies. I don’t
think you have anything to worry about.

Daniel, All except two of my stones have come from Rio, so I am not
concerned about them. The other two, which I purchased some time
ago, I shall keep for myself. I rarely if ever make any thing for
myself, and these will make a nice pair of earrings, as they are
lovely pear shaped stones. Thanks for the warning.
