Ventilation system for enameling

Hello everyone, I am setting up an enameling studio and need some
help with two things: dust collector for the glass sifting area and
exhaust/ventilation for the kiln. Can I use a dust collector
typically used in wood shops? Do the bags keep glass dust from the
air? How about a ducted stove hood for the kiln? Craftsman has a
small 3/4 hp dust collector, does anyone have experience using this?
All help is greatly appreciated,

Marie Maretska

I tried the small Craftsman dust collector and it didn’t have the
oomph to extract the glass dust. I have a ducted stove hood over my
kiln.

Surely, if it is too heavy for the dust collector to pick up, it is
too heavy for your respiratory system to suck in?

The glass dust flies in all directions when you are sifting enamels.
The Craftsman dust collector wasn’t effective enough in extracting
the dust before the it reached my face, where, yes, let me tell you,
your lungs are good enough to collect some of it. Wear a mask.
