Vacuum casting and fire scale

I vacuum cast very larges pieces of pottery that weight anywhere
between 30 and 40 ounces. The top of the piece is a sculpture.

Fire scale on the sculpture can be a killer. There is no way I can
polish fire scale off all the areas of the sculpture.

I needed to buy silver for my latest creation so I went to my Rio
Grande catalog. I noticed they have quite a section of argentium
silver so I compared the cost of casting grain for each. 50 ounces of
argentium silver costs $2.00 more per ounce then sterling silver.

It does not make sense to me to pay $60 to $80 more for silver to
prevent fire scale especially when my anti fire scale vacuum casting
process prevents fire scale on my castings.
