Using staybright soft solder and flux

#1

Anyone know what happened… I rarely use STAYBRIGHT soft solder and
flux, but had occasion to do so on a service pin with enamel. I put
the piece in my ultasonic to clean off the oxides and went back after
a short time and now the bottom of my ultrasonic is rusted in several
spots! What happened, what do I do? Bob Staley B.Staley,

Hi Bob, It isn’t likely to be rust you are seeing because the tanks
are made of stainless steel. And only very poor quality stainless will
rust. The grade of stainless used in sonics shouldn’t rust. What you
are seeing is probably some staining. We see all kinds of stains on
the tanks when we repair them. Your unit should still work and you
shouldn’t have any problems.

Be sure you don’t allow the items you clean to rest on the bottom of
the tank. This will cuase holes in the tank. I would imagine you could
clean the stains off the tank and if not they won’t hurt anything. If
you have any other questions please feel free to call me toll free at
