Ultimate labour for designing?

Dear All

I have just one simple question. “What would the really ultimate fee
for creating an ultra luxurious one of a kind jewellery item”. The
item will be in either 18kt, or 22 karat gold.

The final design will be “CAD” created…Kindly quote in either cost
per hour, or finish rate per week. This quote needed is just my time
designing this item from the very start ! ! !

in deciding the payment for a complicated/intricate design, consider
the fee schedule followed by a lot of the architects’ i’ve
encountered: a percentage of the estimated cost of the project;
material cost, labor cost and riding herd on its completion.
factoring in material and labor costs (but not requiring you to get
on your horse) to arrive at a percentage establishes the importance
of the project and gives credibility to it and the designer - plus,
you won’t be wasting your time with a client saying, “oh, well, that
looks like it would be really nice, but not right now…” - leaving
you with unpaid time and your ‘client’ with a free design (you did
give the client a copy of the design, didn’t you?)

This question has no answer. Terms like “complicated” and “intricate”
depends on who is using them. What is complicated in the eyes of a
beginner, would have different meaning in the eyes of the experienced
craftsman. What is intricate in the eyes of car mechanic, does not
have the same aura of exaltedness in the eyes of a goldsmith. If
someone to approach me about doing article of ultimate intricacy and
complexity, I would ask for a deposit of one billion dollars with
expectation to bill for the remainder upon completion of the project.
