Dear Orchidians:
With the Orchid Dinner only weeks away, the restaurant, El Parador
is asking us for the registration total so they can start ordering
the food. At this time, we have around 90 people registered. Since
we have lots of room this year, you will have ample time to talk and
drink and eat in comfort. Although walk-ins will be allowed this
year at the regular rate, it makes it very difficult to give the
restaurant a total.
The El Parador has given us until February 2 for an estimate.

Hello all you fellow Orchidians who are going to Tucson. Don’t miss
the Orchid dinner. I can say without hesitation, that the evening
event is not to be missed. Gathering with like-minded and equally
devoted Metalsmiths is always worthwhile. Putting faces with the
words you have read and then following up in person, is very
rewarding. Sharing experiences, resources, tricks, stories and phone
numbers can be invaluable. Meeting Hanuman and the others who give
Orchid life is a thrill. Not to mention the great finds at the live
auction, with proceeds to benefit Orchid.
Although I am unable to attend this year, my heart will be with you
all. So don’t pass this opportunity up. If you are in town, plan now

Dear Orchid, WHAT A YEAR… organizing this dinner has been tough
this year. Registrations are really going well now and we have a
great crowd.
The El Parador restaurant must be recognized by Orchid. They have
really helped us above and beyond what any restaurant would do and
this is completely due to Pat Kulla’s personal relationship with them
built over the past couple of years.
The Orchid team has worked like you wouldn’t believe to make this a
success. The sponsors have stepped up to the plate. Hanuman and Ton
will be here soon. Charles Lewton-Brain and Karen Christians have
pushed it into overdrive and we are MOVING. Pat Glover has the silent
auction nailed down.
If you have any time prior to the dinner and can help the day of, we
could use it.
Thank you all so much for helping and donating. Like planning any big
party I am ready for it to start and have fun. Don’t come up to me or
any other Orchid dinner organizer and make suggestions for the next
year, just volunteer.

Dear Orchidians -
We have 166 registrations for the Dinner now and that doesn’t include
the media. They should be anywhere from three to ten people more.
I’ve renegotiated with El Parador and they have been so great.
We are not taking the entire restaurant but are aiming for at least
200 people. However, I did have to agree to let them have the band
later. The good news is: the band won’t start until 10 p.m. so we
have a pretty good window for our activities. I
f you haven’t registered for the Dinner you still have some time but
it would help me to plan if you could get to us as soon as possible.
For $35.00, part of which goes to Orchid, it’s a bargain Dinner!
