Dear all, I want to get the word out about Swest. They have donated a
Sparkie II for the dinner raffle. Go check out the link
swestinc.com and see for yourself. Only those
who attend the dinner will be able to get in on the raffles and
silent auction because we have no way to operate by remote, sorry.
The Sparkie is a donation of over $1,000 in merchandise, Thank VERY
much Swest. Sam Patania, Tucson

Hello Sam and Orchidians, Question: How does one buy a raffle
ticket? At the dinner or before then? Cost of said ticket? Any
other raffles to promote? (I’m still bummed that I didn’t win one
of Kenneth Singh’s mills last year.) Thanks to you for your extra
efforts in organizing the Orchid dinner!! Judy in Kansas

Dear all of Orchid, I have a special announcement this year for the
February Tucson Gem Show Orchid dinner. Hanuman will be attending
this dinner. We have asked that he speak to the gathering. The dinner
will be held the night of the 7th of February, 2003 and I will post
the costs of the dinner and times in the next week. I will save and
repeat this posting weekly. The 2002 dinner was such a wonderful
success in terms of attendance, meeting all of you who I read every
day and money to keep Orchid up and running. We had a wonderful
silent auction and donations from companies and individuals. I must
think this coming year will be even better with the attendance of
Hanuman. We will put a maximum on the number of dinners available.
We will post an attendance sheet on line soon for this dinner and
prices and times. If you need accommodations please check with Tucson
Chamber of Commerce and get them soon, they fill quickly. Two areas
you might try for accommodations if Tucson is already full are the
town of Benson , 30 miles east of Tucson on I10 and the Tubac/Green
Valley area 30 miles south of Tucsonon I19. These towns are both much
more pretty than Phoenix and closer. Hope to see you there, Sam

Dear All - We have 12 raffle tickets left for the Sparkie; 7 tickets
left for the Draw Bench and 2 tickets left for the Bench Drill!

Please remember that these three items are limited to the amount of
tickets mentioned and once those left are sold, that’s it. Can’t
take e-mail requests for tickets since that’s not fair to others.
First come in the mail, first served.

Every bit of money on these raffle items goes to Orchid courtesy of
our fantastic donors, SWEST and Kenneth Singh.

We want to remind all that generous Rio Grande is sponsoring our
Dinner this year and we will have a number of Rio Grande personnel at
the Dinner. There’s great support within our special community. We’re
at 169 reservations for the Dinner itself and still have some more
room at this time. Wish you all could be here to party with one
another and meet the fabulous Hanuman. Pat Kulla @ Patania’s

Dear All - Here are latest names for reservations & raffles:

http://orchid-dinner.blogspot.com/ If you have not seen your name
before, please e-mail me to check.

As I posted before, no more tickets are available for the Drill but
we have a few for the Sparkie and the Draw Bench. Thanks for all of
your support - we have a great community, haven’t we? Pat Kulla @
Patania’s

Dear All - We have NO raffle tickets left for the Bench Drill; 4
tickets left for the Draw Bench and 6 tickets left for the Sparkie.
I will post most recent names since last posting later today. What
great support from all of you. Hurrah for Orchid! Pat @ Patania’s

Dear All -

We are getting VERY close on reservations. The space I’ve reserved
will accommodate only 200 people and that only if I whine and plead
alot!

Because of this, we will NOT be able to have anyone show up at the
door without a reservation. Last year we had an extra 30 people come
without reservations and that was a scramble. If you think of it in
terms of ten persons to a table, that meant the restaurant had to
squeeze in three more tables and and thirty chairs. They were great
and did it for us but this year we won’t have the leeway to squeeze
in any more. The restaurant can be divided into two parts with a
close 200 in each or take the whole restaurant for 400. We had to
make the decision right after New Year’s whether we wanted half or
whole restaurant and so it was made.

We are at close to 190 right now and 200 will be it. We really
don’t want anyone to miss the party and meeting Hanuman but no one
has invented a building stretcher yet. Pat Kulla @ Patania’s

Dear All - Some of you who arrived later in the evening had a
problem with parking last year. One suggestion I have is to park
across the street (Broadway) in a good-sized strip mall where all of
the shops will be closed. Just be careful crossing Broadway - it’s a
really broad street (no pun intended). Pat @ Patania’s

Dear All -

We have no more tickets left for Sparkie or Drill. There are two
tickets left for the Draw Bench.

El Parador and I are working on that building stretcher and we may
be able to get a few more Dinner reservations in. Let me hear from
you if you are coming to Tucson and want to be with your fellow
Orchidians. Pat Kulla @ Patania’s

Hey all, I won’t be at the Orchid dinner, but would still like to
meet any who are at Tucson. So here’s the deal… I am at the show’s
from Wed 5th thru Sat 8th, I wear a light brown Stetson, and would
love to meet anyone who sees me. If you holler ‘Hey, Geo’, I’ll turn
to look for you, and you can wave your hand(s). It’s fun to put
aperson with a name. I’ll be looking forward to meeting you!
georockman

Hi George, Unfortunately, I also can’t make it to the dinner. If you
or any Orchid member can get away from Tucson, I will be in our
gallery (Bisbee Nature Gallery, next to the Copper Queen Hotel) with
some new Bisbee turquoise rough and would be happy to meet you and
talk jewelry. Have fun in Tucson. Will Estavillo
