Tucson 2001

All,

Marty and I just got back on Sunday from Tucson 2001. We opened our
show at the Scottish Rites on 29 Jan and closed on 11 Feb. The
weather was terrible for a few days. Rain, snow, wind, and just
plain nasty. Generally show traffic was down. Word from AGTA and
GLDA was that traffic was down 25-35%. Many dealers had terrible
shows. The club show at the Convention Center was an exception.
Everyone showed up to see the Faberge Collection and the dealers had
a great show. We had our best show ever. Advertising did the trick,
plus a good stock of unique stones. Home now, tired, and with all the
unpacking, inventory, updates and more stones to cut. Life of a
gemstone dealer is glamorous.
