Trying Argentium Sterling

Good Afternoon,

I’m thinking about trying the new Argentium Silver that everyone is
talking about, but I know little about how to work with it. I
understand that it has to be heat hardened, what does that mean, and
do you assemble your pieces first and then heat harden? Is there
somewhere a person can go to get step by step intructions to use
Argentium?

Thanks for your help
Gerry

Hello Gerry,

I can go on talking about this “new alloy” which is not that new but
have a look at this HP and you’ll now everything about it. Talk to
other people bevor you switch over completly from one to the other
metal. Not all people are so keen to work with it and not everybody
likes to buy this because of the color of the metal which is not as
warm as silver normaly is.

Best wishes
Pedro

Hi Gerry,

Hardening is an OPTION with Argentium Silver—it is not a
necessity. I suggest that you read the article Road Testing
Argentium Silver that I wrote for Art Jewelry magazine. You can
download a pdf from my website: www.cynthiaeid.com. there is also a
new website for Argentium Silver that has the article, as well as
anything else you would want to know: argentiumsilver.info

Best wishes,
Cynthia

Hi Cynthia,

I notice from your article on Argentium silver, that it was invented
by a Brit and yet we can’t get hold of it over here! I really wish
one of the UK companies would start alloying and selling it so that
we can try it in the UK. Anyone listening?

Hello Helen,

I don’t know if this might be a help for you but I know a companie
in Belgium who has AG silver in theire product line. It might work
out for you ordering it from them and don’t worry about the language,
they speek englisch aswell.

They have a online catalog available in englisch. Check them out if
you want and I hope this is some kind of help for you.

Best regards
Pedro

I think that it will be available in Europe soon. Meantime, you
could order it from Rio Grande or Stuller.

Cynthia

Hi Cynthia,

I’d not thought of ordering it from Rio. That’s definitely an option
as I have an account. I was in the process of opening an account at
Stuller but they wanted I didn’t have so I gave up. But
thanks for recommending Rio. Hopefully it will come to Europe soon as
you say.

Thanks,
