Orchidians: a tip on tips. If you have purchased a smith torch with
5 tips, the #1, #2 and #3 are virtually useless to me. One day
needing to use two torches to solder a ring shank on a sterling ring
with a stone in it, with the stone submerged in a metal dish filled
with water, I couldn’t find one of my #6 or #7 tips, out of
frustration I took one of the smaller tips and used a pointed diamond
tool in my flex-shaft and drilled out the ruby insert, it popped out
easily, and I now have several torch tips that are now useful. New
tips are $15 each, a new torch with 5 tips is about $85 as show
