G’day: About 7 years ago my grandaughter gave me an electric
lighter which doesn’t need batteries. You squeeze a trigger and
get a spark about 5mm long and another when you let go. Lights
torches and bunsens a fair treat. A crystal inside the thing
converts mechanical energy direct to electricity; at least 1000
volts I reckon. You can get a shock out of it if you really try,
but it is difficult; you have to work at it. Ain’t science
wonderful? Cheers,
