I knew it was going to happen eventually, and this morning my cheap Tabletop burnout oven finally went kaput. In searching for a new oven online it’s become difficult to see what’s worth getting and what’s just more cheap crap from China. I bought the Tabletop a couple of years ago because it was relatively inexpensive and would at least get my fledgling business started, but the limit of 1 or 2 flasks for the tiny chamber was a bit annoying. I’d like something that will hold more, but I don’t need some gargantuan thing built for an industrial-sized jewelry business. I’m still just one of the small guys. Any suggestions for something that will last a good while?

Last I looked, Tabletop sells a lot of spare parts. Maybe that is their business plan. Replacing a coil should be fairly easy. If it is in the PID controller, that might be another story. I bought a stand alone PID and thermocouple for my very old kiln when I rebuilt it and it wasn’t that expensive. I have no experience with any new kilns, so others will have to help you. Several years ago my 1970’s kiln became troublesome so I bought a small Paragon kiln with an enamel port in front… I thought, maybe one day I would try to enamel
Long story short … The new kiln is neat, but so complicated to set the firing schedule , I don’t use it. (Also after I bought it learned it isn’t recommend for wax burnouts… I usually research, but)
Anyway, I tinkered with my rusty relic of a kiln, got it working and never went to even trying the paragon (other than to set the temperature to 800’ to heat treat some continuum silver rings
Maybe advertise here or kijiji type place for a used kiln if your old one can’t be brought back to life
