Tim McCreight books

Another new [to me, anyway!] McCreight book is Design Language - anyone
seen that? It’s in a catalog I got today of crafts books. He also has a
book called Metals Technic, which I have seen. That one is a series of
articles by other artists, such as Charles Lewton Brain.

Another one of Tim’s book is “Practical Jewelry Rendering” 1993
ISBN 0-9615984-4-1 Brynmorgen Press. I was just given this book by
an old rock hound. Don’t know whether I’d actually buy it, but if
you can pick it up for a reasonable price at a used book store it
has some instruction on what methods/materials/techniques to use to
achieve renderings jewelry, especially metal and faceted stones.
Also has some great head and hand pencil drawings that would be
good as background for jewelry pieces.

Language - anyone seen that?

I have this book and I bought for a number of my friends for
Christmas and they all loved and now I have other friends who
want it. It really is about language and how we talk about our
work. Tim provides an always interesting view. I highly
recommend it for anyone, but especially for teachers, students,
writers, and curators. He designed the book to be used as a
tool, with space for your own notes and ideas. It is small
enough to fit into the back pocket of your jeans.
