[Tidbits] Who is She?

In days of old/when knights were bold/and royalty was the rage… ye
lil ol jeweler achieved fame and renown and thereby fortune by
acquiring a royal appointment. If the king and queen then liked your
stuff… your fortune was made. Your creations became the rage with
the court attendees… and one and all wanted to own–for the sake of
this discussion–a Tyler-Adam original. Yes. It’s true. We Tyler-Adam
folks hark back to the age of the great Tyler-Adamus… a warrior and
jewelry person bold in both mind and metalsmithing. But that’s a tale
for another Tidbits.

And then the modern age descended upon us… and royalty was replaced
by high profile celebrities. The magazine front coverers… and the
great publications gossip mongerers… and the writers… and the
actors and actresses… all who served to shine in the eyes of the
hoi polloi… and influence the styles of the day by the styles they
wore.

Knock-Off City became the great metropolis of the day… and royal
appointment was replaced by the wearing of jewelry by the
style-icons of the day.

For instance: Bulgari once obtained for the Pasha of Egypt a 41.06
carat octagonal diamond which then became a gift for Barbara Hutton.
And then there was Cartier… who obtained a 69.42 carat pear-shape
diamond for one celebrity to give to another celebrity… at a price
exceeding one million dollars. And here’s where our tale begins…
for who was it that received this most wondrous bauble. Let me tell
you something about her … you tell me if you know her… I’ll let
you all know the correct identity next week. Here are your hints.

Hint 1: She was far and away considered one of the most beautiful
woman to ever grace the silver screen.

Hint 2: The diamond was named after the donor and receiver. IE: It
was called the X-Y diamond.

Hint 3: In 2007 rumor had it that she was to be married for the
ninth time.

Hint 4: Andy Warhol did a picture of her that fetched $12.6 million
at Sotheby’s.

Hint 5: She was sued by the family of a victim of Nazi persecution
over the ownership of a Van Gogh painting which the heirs of the
victim felt should be returned to them.

Hint 6: She was the first actress to earn one million dollars for a
film role. Shant tell you the name folks. That would be giving it all
away.

Hint 7: She married one of her husbands twice.

Hint 8: Last but not least… her awards: Jean Hersholt Humanitarian
award.

And her nominations: Best Actress: Golden Globe. Best Actress:
BAFTA. Best Actress: Academy Awards.

Many of these nominations are duplicated and triplicated. And so
there it is.

Wanna guess?
