Ti-research vs Broken arm

Hi guys and gals

I am interested in getting either a centrifugal like neycraft (unfortunately Lucas Dental went out of business, that was my first choice) or the Ti-research.

One issue that is holding me is the ability to cast 18k pd white. I have only done this in a vacuum under argon. I have heard of people doing it with propane/oxygen without issues, and others swear it will never come out nice? And real world examples of people doing that?

I used a centrifugal casting machine for over forty years. Most of those years, Hoover and Strong’s 18K palladium white was my go to metal for 18k white. Also, for the majority of those years, my set up was natural gas & oxygen. I loved working the the palladium white gold. It does take more heat to cast, but that didn’t seam to be an issue for my natural gas torch.

I didn’t cast platinum or palladium, because the throw on the centrifuge was to slow, and the process requires much more heat than my set up was able to deliver, and its best to cast those metals in a vacuum.

In my opinion, problems that might occur with casting 18K pd., are probably not related to the type of casting machine that is used, but more the process and procedures used.
