Thursday morning quiz;

Hi Rick,

I seem to recall something that meets the description of this
jig in the Rio Grande tools catalog. I stuck it in the back of
my mind as “one of those tools I’ll eventually need”, but I’m
still working with a lot more cabs. Manufactured heads seem to be
pretty cost effective/convenient for me.

Do those of you who make your own faceted settings do so because:

a) The ones I make are better?
b) The ones I make are cheaper?
c) Allows me to minimize inventory of findings?
d) It’s the way I’ve always done it?
e) None of the above (please specify).

Happy New Year, everyone!

Hi Dave

I make the ones I can’t find- palladium white alloys, 18k
settings, special shapes, or just because I need it NOW. The ones
I make usually are stronger and suit the design better. I have
lots of commercial heads around- one of my projects is to use
up some of them (along with the glut of faceted stones).
