Thread setting

Hi All, I got a question for those who might know. Is thread setting
when you put a S curve between each stone when your setting a
straight line of diamonds?

This is what I’ve heard it referred to. The cut sort looks like a
screw thread. The term just might be local to my area through.

I believe thread setting is when you are bead setting a single row
of diamonds very close to one another where the girdles are nut to
butt with two shared beads or the stones could have a little space
where you have four beads on each stone. Hope this helps and if
other disagree and think I’m wrong, oh well such is life. Happy
Holiday

As I understand this, a single brite-cut line is then engraveed
along the line of settings, creating the “thread”.
