The Competition

Who is your competition? What do they do better than you? What do
you do better than them? What’s your competitive advantage? What can
you do differently that will improve it?

Why do your loyal clients come back time after time? Why do some
people never come back? Did they go to your competition? How can you
make the ‘onesies’ into repeat customers? What’s the difference in
their mindsets?

I’m asking myself these questions lately.

My biggest competitors are 40 miles away, in NYC where much of my
town commutes to (at least, that’s my historical peception, I could
be way wrong, the world changes). So I need to entice them to come
here. Why some of my best customers drive past some good jewelers in
their hometown 20 minutes away and come here, I’m not absolutely
certain. Whatever it is I need to identify it. And market it.

These might be good questions to ask yourself too. But self
examination isn’t easy.

I’m just thinking out loud here, sorry.

Dear Neil,

I need to entice them to come here. Why some of my best customers
drive past some good jewelers in their hometown 20 minutes away and
come here, I'm not absolutely certain. Whatever it is I need to
identify it. And market it.

Make house calls? Host a Friday night fete?
