The 9th Annual Tucson Dinner 2005 Update

Greetings Orchid

Only 18 days left before the Orchid Dinner in Tucson!

Please don’t wait for the last moment! Remember to purchase your
tickets for the dinner today!!

For those of you who are new to Orchid, The Tucson Orchid dinner
started 8 years ago, when Dave Arens of Tucson suggested the “Orchid
Tucson Trekkers” to meet each other in Tucson. Here is a nostalgia
link to Dave’s idea which is fun to read back.

From less than 20 people who attended the first Orchid dinner in
1997, the event grew to accommodate over 300 Orchidians last year.

The coming 9th Tucson Orchid dinner should be an exciting evening
for all of us! This is our opportunity to meet each other and make
friends; this is our opportunity to put an Orchid on our bench, to
connect and to share.

Orchid, I will be there and I hope you will be there too. Please find
couple of hours during the show rush, to attend the dinner, to have a
relaxed evening and to make new friends.

If you are planning and still did not register to the dinner, Please
do it today at:

I am looking forward to see you all in Tucson
Thank you.

Hi all.

We’ll be at the Tucson Orchid dinner again this year, how about you?

I enjoyed reading the archives about the "Orchid Tucson Trekkers"
organized by Dave Arens but realized that the description didn’t
match my “first Orchid dinner”.

I remember an earlier gathering, also planned by Dave Arens, which
probably occurred the previous year. That was when I first met Dave
and Jan Arens. There were perhaps a dozen of us at a steak type
restaurant, in a strip mall, I believe. We had a great time,
gathered at one long table. Actually, I think we were originally
seated at a different table but as more arrived the restaurant moved
us to the rear of the restaurant. I remember meeting Jurgen Maerz
and perhaps Karen Hammerle, but unfortunately, cannot recall any of
the other names now.

Perhaps Dave can remember more of that group?

I remember that Orchid dinner too. It was waaaaaaaay east in Tucson
at a steak place with peanut shells on the floor. I think it was my
second Orchid dinner, although I don’t have any memory of my first.
I remember Dave and his wife there, and it seems like maybe 15+
people attended. I remember you were there because we sat next to
each other and checked out each other’s brooches. And I know Jurgen
was there, because we went to the dinner together. Beyond that, I
have no idea who attended.

I wish I could be there this year, but work has me stuck in
Colorado. I sorely miss seeing you all. Maybe next year!

Karen Hemmerle

Dear all I am very much looking forward to the Orchid dinner, I hope
to see you there.

I’ll be bringing something for the auction again this year – it
