Tack Welding vs. Elec. Tack soldering machines

Greetings to all; I am considering purchasing a tack soldering
machine. I am most interested in aligning components prior to
soldering, especially for platinum. I have read that some are able to
retip/weld prongs on emeralds etc. I am considering units in the $450

    1. range. I would appreciate any feedback .
