Supplier needed - belt buckle sets

I recently got involved in a belt buckle commission with a guy who
makes leather items. He showed me a really great device for attaching
the tips of ranger style belt buckle sets. He unfourtantly does not
have a supplier for this item so I thought I would see if anyone on
orchid knows of a source. The item in question is a screw and nut
system for attaching the tip of ranger style buckle sets to the belt
leather. The nut looks a lot like a minature dry wall anchor. A nut
that has a couple of claws on a flat washer that is attached to a
threaded nut. This stops the nut from spinning when set in the
leather. The screw is just a flat head screw that goes through the
tip into the nut set in the leather. The whole system is about 1/8"
long and 1/16" in diameter. It is made of white or yellow brass.
Anyone got any ideas where to get them??? Thanks in advance and I
kow if it is out there orchid will find it. Frank Goss

Frank, These sound like something I’ve used in wood before. Go to
McMaster-Carr’s website (www.mcmaster.com) and search for “tee nuts.”
I’m not sure how small you can find them, but I’ve seen them pretty
small at my local hardware store.

Hi Frank, Try The Leather Factory. They have stores all across the
country… even one here in Charlotte. There are a bunch in Texas,
and even some in Canada! They seem to have everything remotely
related to leather work.

positive they have what you need but I think they might. HTH

Frank-- If these are what I think, they are called “chicago screws”,
and Indian Jewelry Supply has them, or at least used to. Good luck!
