Success at shows - joke

regis - an old art show joke resurfaced in south miami: two jewelers
went half & half for a florida lottery ticket & won 20 million
dollars - 10 million each. a t.v. news interviewer asked what each
would do with his money. the first jeweler answered, “well, i’m
going to retire & travel to places i’ve never been & always wanted
to visit. maybe build a real dream house. just have some fun.” the
second shrugged & said, “i guess i’ll just keep doing this until the
money runs out.”

you can be having a so-so show but when a customer comes up wearing
a dramatic piece of your jewelry she bought from you last year -
everyone in your booth is ‘ooohing’ & ‘aaahing’ - you will learn
there are more factors than high totals that make for a successful
show.

one of life’s lessons: no one else is traveling your exact route;
only you can decide when you have arrived where you want to be.

think, people - ive

you will learn there are more factors than high totals that make
for a successful show.

This is true but I still remember a statement from a old German
Gunsmith years ago when he showed me a truly finely crafted rifle
that he had made from scratch. My comment was that “boy, that is
something you can be proud of”. he shot back “Young man, you can’t
eat proud”
