Sticking stones to paper

When I was a little kid, I had a doll house. I used a wax to hold all
of the things in place so they would not move, but it was easy to
pick them off and move them around to a new place. We got the wax at
the hardware store where we got the doll house parts. It was very
soft and sticky.

A second thought what about the clear sticky dots that are sometimes
used in museum/art center and retail shops? or the kneadable sticky
tack that is blue, yellow or white for hanging posters on wall with
out leaving marks?

Sounds like “Tacky Wax.” Made by Yaley Enterprises, available at
Hobby Lobby.

What about gum Arabic?

Yes, there is a product called glue dots, both regular and mini
size, and they are available at craft stores like Michael’s and
JoAnn. The are great for attaching small objects and there are a
gazillion on a roll, but once they have been stuck to paper they do
not come up. I googled and also found this one with the review
attached. Avery Removable Glue Stic 0.23 oz. Since this is something
that can be put on the back of paper and allow it to stay in one
position until moved to another, you can use it when you need to lay
out items and keep them stationary but not have them permanently
affixed to the surface. The glue adhesive that’s used leaves no
residue on the surface and there’s no heavy tack left behind. I’ve
seen these sold individually at Office Depot for about $1.49. Good
luck, I hope you find a solution that works.

Ah, quick and easy - double sided tape should do the trick. Either a
strip across your mat board or a small piece across the back of each
cab. Comes in rolls and can be cut to size.

I have also use a hole punch on double sided tape to make nice little
dots. It’s cheaper than buying dots, and I’m miserly, lol! Another
thing I discovered when winterizing my house (plastic window kits) is
that there is ALWAYS a ton of extra 2 sided tape left over, so I
don’t even have to purchase my tape any more, because I’ve always got
the extra rolls of it every year. And THAT 2 sided tape has a
removable coating on one side, so I can stick it to the paper and
peel it away when I am ready to apply a cab or stone.

The added fun is the different sized and shaped hole punches I have
left over from my scrap-booking days. Fun little stars and hearts and
such, hehe

Okay I’m a geek, too!

Cheers!
