Steam Casting Technique

A further detailed description of this technique, for those
interested, can be found in Robert Von Neumann’s classic book
"The Design and Creation of Jewelry." Von Neumann writes:

"The advantage of steam over centrifuge casting is the

elimination of an expensive centrifuge. Once wax has been burned
out of a mold, casting by steam pressure is very simple. When
done correctly, steam castings can be as dense in structure as
those cast by the centrigugal method…objects such as rings
cast very well in this manner, although pins and pendants of
large or extended shape might cause problems. Steam pressure
can push only so far!"
