I have been casting a line of 18k jewelry for five years, and though
I am pretty happy with my caster, the quality does vary from batch to
batch. My designs are pretty difficult to cast since they are large
pieces but pretty thin, yet very detailed so clean-up and repair of
defects is very troublesome. Plus I am enameling on the castings, so
minimizing the oxide build-up at the surface is important.
I am looking for a contract caster who uses state-of -the-art
casting equipment with oxygen-free melting environment and careful
melt temperature control. These machines have been available for many
years and keep getting better. I don’t do enough casting to buy one
and do the casting myself, and I can’t seem to find a company that
does their casting using anything but the old standard centrifugal
casting. Anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks,
Amy
