business. Getting your foot in the door will be the most difficult.
Find yourself a niche; a product few dealers may have. Offer
complimentary services such as cutting, repair, appraisals, or
consulting. Emphasize customer service and the fact that you will
drive across Chicago in rush hour for a $2 amethyst. And when you do
get the appointment, check your heart at the door, because it’s
going to get broken.
I haven’t heard too many Cinderella stories in this business, but
