Can you suggest a few suppliers that sells wax cylinders in the
two to five inch diameter range; any length? The wax I got was
from MSC Industrial supply co. and does have porosity in the wax.
I think they told me it was manufactured by the Freeman Co. I
have not used the wax to cast anything yet but I will try to do a
small sample to see how well it works. Have you used this wax to
cast in the lost wax technique? How well did it work?
Thanks,

I’ll have to dig up the may take a day or two as I
forget where I ordered it from

Yes I have, and it worked perfectly. I have machined many pieces
with my mill, some with great detail. It machines and casts
beautifully.

Jeffrey, Can this type of wax be glued to other types or itself?
Have you ever used Elmer’s glue or any other type of glue to
attach waxes to other waxes, especially when heat welding doesn’t
yield good results? I’ve heard this can be done, and will cast
well, but I haven’t tried it yet. maybe even spray adhesives
would work???Ruth

Hi Ruth
Are we talking about machinable wax? I’m sorry, I lost track.
Machinable wax is almost exactly like carving wax, but not quite
as high of quality. It can be worked in exactly the same manner.
I glue wax pieces together occassionally, I usually just use
crazy glue, although many different adhesives could work.

Hi Ruth, my caster told me to use cyanacrylate glue, it worked
well. Markus
