[Source] Wintergreen Oil

...On a completely different side of things, I've been
wondering what wintergreen oil can do that another lubricant
can't, besides smelling good. Would. liquid Bur-Life be a good
alternative? I've found it quite handy for things like drawing
chain and lubricating, um, burs.

The best lubricant I have found is a product called Anchor Lube It
is made as a cutting lubricant and is very effective even to the
point that dull burs cut well.

I heard somewhere that one reason that wintergreen oil was used by
engravers is that the aroma refreshes you and makes you more alert.(
And, if you get it in your eye, really, really, really alert!)

If you are wanting to lubricate gravers for engraving, try Tap Magic
for Aluminum. Cut a circle from a synthetic sponge & put it in a
small aluminum tin (the ones that watch parts come in) & soak it with
the tap magic. Just touch your graver or bur to the sponge & go to
it! Tap Magic is available from GRS in Emporia, KS. Not affiliated
but have attended engraving & stone setting classes there.
