[Source] Titanium Wire

I’m looking to purchase small quantities.1 or 2 pounds at a
time…of 6AL-4V titanium wire, preferably from someone within the
US.

I’ve bought some titanium wire from Reactive Metals, but it is a
different alloy.

I’ve contacted a number of places that I have found on the internet,
but they either deal in larger quantities, or are having a hard time
stocking the alloy I am looking for.

Can anyone please recommend a source?

Darryl Ralph is the right person, but I can’t find his email
address, he is a jeweler turned knifemaker. You may find him via
Google.

What is this alloy used for? How does it differ from what Reactive
Metals has?

Titanium wire is drawn to order. Over runs are usually picked up be
the purchaser. At the very least an order of 6/4 would have to be 10
pounds. Unless you find a mistake you will have to invest in the
greater quantity. At that you would pay a premium price for less then
25 pounds. You are not paying so much for the wire as you are for the
labor. Labor is about the same for 10 lbs as 25 lbs. In good part
this is why Reactive Metals Studio exists. The only way I could see
in 1981 to get consistent materials was to either be very prolific or
to supply others. It did not make any sense to teach how to use the
reactive metals if no one could purchase them. Between that and the
belief that anodizing the reactive metals was an entirely new medium
RMS was born. That puts us in our 24th year. Who could have imagined!
