[Source] Sterling silver swivel bails

Hello!

Does anyone know where I can purchase 10mm-12.5 mm sterling silver
swivel bails?

I’ve looked on the web and found mainly 15mm, 19mm and 22mm. . .all
of these are too large for my project. Rio Grande carries pendant
swivels in 14K gold and white gold in these sizes, but the price for
the finding (YIKES!) is almost more than what I can sell the
necklace for.

Many thanks to all of you!

Nilima,

Yep - Try Metalliferous

Stuller also has sterling swivels in a variety of sizes, I believe.
But I know I’ve purchased them within the past 6 months from
Metalliferous, including some that were quite petite and lovely.

Good luck!

Nilima,

I had a similar problem and solved it by making my own Sterling
bails from Sterling wire. The wire is quite easy to work with–and
can be annealed if it is not. It can be left round, partially
flattened with a rolling mill or hammer and anvil, textured, etc.
Unless you need a great quantity of bails, this may be your best
solution. Silver wire, as well as gold wire, can be the starting
place for all kinds of bails, links, etc. that you cannot find from
the supply houses. As a side note, I have also been successful in
creating ring guards from wire. The ring guards have to be work
hardened, but that occurs almost automatically as you are forming
them.
