[Source] Rainbow Moonstone

Does anyone know of a really good source of larger, white, iridescent
rainbow moonstone cabs (i.e., labradorite feldspar)? I would also
like to find some high quality, tiny, faceted stones (not beads) of
the same kind. I’ve been on a hunt for a while and haven’t quite
found what I’m looking for.

Thanks in advance.

Tamra,

My understanding is that most of the rainbow moonstone has been mined
out. My long time, major source for the material is only able to get
small stuff these days and she’s pretty up front about what’s going
on out there. There is blue sheen moonstone available these days, but
unless it’s older stock, I don’t think you’re going to find a lot of
true rainbow material in larger sizes. And no, I won’t sell any of
the pieces of my wife’s collection to you!

Blue Moon in Carlsbad, CA is a great source for nice moonstone. The
contact # I have for them is 760-438-9237. If you have time, you can
see them at the AGTA show in Tucson. I hope that helps.
