[Source] Heat resistant gloves

Hi all,

I’m looking for gloves that are heat resistant, but that I could
still work in. So thick leather gloves are out. I’m picturing
something like the Kevlar gloves that are available for mold
cutting, only heat resistant.

I’ve checked the cooking store and they have lots of silicone
options, but most are rather thick.

Do such gloves exist?

To Elaine Luther–there are Kevlar knit gloves that may suit you.
Check with an industrial supply house like MSC, Grainger, Enco or
Rutland Tool, or with your local welding supply company. The yellow
ones are good to 400 degrees F and the black ones to 800 degrees F.

Charles Lewton Brain introduced these gloves to a foldforming
workshop I attended - he also provided a cautionary note - Do not
make contact with water when you are wearing them while handling hot
items - you could burn yourself very badly. They did look very
useful and comfortable to wear.
