Hi there,

We have done several types of adjustable shanks in our workshop over
the years. Last month, I actually sent a ring out to a manufacturer
in Florida, USA-since theirs could span over a knuckle at size 13+ and
close down to size 11… They also were able to reinforce the top area
in the undergallery…Their item holds a warranty and they provide a
plastic device that helps the customer to pop open the hinged area.
This is hinged neatly and opens at the base and is also a servicable
device by them if necessary… It was not inexpensive but this was the
only way to accomodate the finger. My customer had made a special ring
for his mother for Christmas and she really wanted to wear it. The
company is called Finger Mate,Inc. and they are in Hallendale,
Florida. You can reach them at (954) 458-2700…There are also other
finger adaptors-- like Finger Fit, Superfits,Adjust-O-Shank & Lock
Shank. But the sizes are more limited, meaning not past 9 to 10 in
size(American measurement)…You can view these online at :
Stuller.com and Otto Frei-Jules Borel (www.ottofrei.com). As far as I
know, these are the best choices for wearablity and
craftsmanship… Hope this helps!!

Francisco,CA…Jo-Ann Maggiora Donivan

Beware of price alone, that is only one side of the issue. To get the
skinny on the hinged ring market you should study the facts first to
know what you are getting into.
