Solid gold french wire for necklace?

I’m stringing together emerald, peridot, and 14k gold beads for a necklace, but am having the hardest time finding solid gold french wire to neatly finish the ends. It feels like I’ve scoured all of the internet looking for it, but have only come up with brass and gold-plated french wire.

Would anyone be willing to share where they’ve purchased some before, or have advice on a different/better alternative?

Thanks in advance!

Sara,

When faced with the same problem, I fabricated my own with 30ga 14kt YG wire. The core used for fabricating was a sewing needle comparable to the fine nylon coated braided wire. I used small 1mm 14kt tubing for crimps. The finished ends came out lovely.

The emeralds in my design were TINY under 2mm.

Making what isn’t commercially available might be your best solution. It took no time at all to make the french wires.

So smart! Thanks so much for sharing.

We had a recent discussion about making french wire. Drawing and flattening it would be a bit of a chore. Following is a link…Rob
