Doh! Moment for today 
Hi Guys,
I’ve been having a lot of trouble with soldering a piece of
shibuichi onto a rod of twisted shakudo/shibuichi mokume.
I had already succeeded in attaching one piece of shibuichi, and the
other piece just isn’t playing fair.
The solder joint was clean and tight, the hard solder was exactly
the same as the solder I’ve used previously, but not go.
Then it hit me… I had already soldered on some copper thorns
(lovingly carved by yours truly)… HEAT SINK 
The solution is simple choose a better place for the shibuichi leaf
