In the final (I thought!) stages of finishing a 14K yellow gold ring
with 4 bezel-set rubies, a hole revealed itself next to the base of
one bezel. I have plugged it with wire, but since I can’t get it
riveted, it will need to be soldered in place.
-
Can I solder right next to the 3mm ruby, using 14KY easy solder??
-
Should I protect the ruby with boric acid, as I would with a
diamond? -
I know not to quench a hot stone. Any other cautions?
